What is iPliz?

iPliz is software that allows to you remotely access your Mac through email messages. This means you can submit tasks to your Mac from any device capable of sending email, or through webmail. Some examples of stuff you can do with iPliz:

  • Search for contact information stored on your Mac
  • Fetch music from your Mac to wherever you are
  • Grab that file you forgot to load on your thumbdrive and you really, really need
  • Read files from your Mac on your iPhone while you're on-the-go
  • Monitor your Mac, including viewing a screenshot
  • Monitor your home or office by recording short movies or taking pictures using iSight(*)
  • Do anything you like, using user created commands.

Designed to 'just work', iPliz setup and operation is extremely simple and requires minimal knowledge of operating a Mac. How simple? Well, to give you an idea we bring below the complete, unabridged iPliz User's Guide...

The Complete, Unabridged iPliz User's Guide

Using iPliz requires following three simple steps:
1>install
To use iPliz, first download and install it on your Mac. This will download and open a disk image (.dmg) file to your Mac. Double-click the "Install iPliz" icon in this disk image to install iPliz.
2>configure
After you complete the installation, iPliz will open its System Preferences preference pane and guide you through configuration. In this step, you will enter the details of an email account through which you will communicate with iPliz. We recommend setting up a dedicated email account for working with iPliz. After you've input the account details, iPliz automatically suggests to test your settings and sends a welcome email message to the configured account. So, setup a mail account, input its details to iPliz and in about two minutes, you'll receive a welcome mail and you're done setting it up!
3>control
Once iPliz is installed and configured, you can submit tasks to your Mac by sending email message with a subject line that begins with pliz to your iPliz configured mail account. The rest of the subject line describes what exactly you want iPliz to do for you. For example, suppose you want to find a car rental proposal PDF that you have saved on your Mac, just like you would with Spotlight. With iPliz, from anywhere with email access, you can send an email to iPliz with the subject line 'pliz find car rental'. iPliz will use Spotlight to find relevant files, and send you back a list of results (the list is always sent to a fixed email account, regardless of where the request came from).

But that's not all! To retrieve any of the results listed in the response mail from iPliz, simply click the listed filename. This will set you up with sending an Email that requests iPliz to send you back the file. Of course, if you know the name of a file you want to retrieve in advance you could simply send a message with the subject 'pliz send filename' where filename is the file you want to retrieve.

Simple, huh? Go on, download iPliz and start enjoying email-based remote control!
